Good rotor but.......

A few days ago I purchased this item from Radioworld in person. I was expecting an easy installation, based on what I was told by the salesperson. This was certainly not the case. The biggest problem (for me) was soldering and connecting the wiring. From a visual aspect, it was difficult enough seeing the correct pins, but it was even worse trying to solder the connections due to the tight space and trying to see and hold the connections. The other issue, for me, was the flimsiness of the connector going to the control head. All the wiring was done correctly, but due to one pin not being aligned correctly, we spent a couple of hours trying to track down this issue. It was only by luck that we realized what the problem was. The manual was ok, but at spots difficult to comprehend (it needed a couple of read throughs until the intent of the language was understood). My very strong suggestion for anybody contemplating buying this unit, is to get an experienced pro to attach the connectors (or if possible buy a premade cable with connectors). Otherwise, you will (IMHO) end with an exercise filled with frustration. Lastly, please be aware that you will have to do some drilling when attaching the rotor itself to the mast. The unit works well, and has no issues from an operating point of view. Bottom line, good unit, however be prepared for work in setting it up.
