My first Yaesu as well as first digital radio
After watching lots of YouTube reviews of the FT70 and seeing that it was on sale I figured I would give it a try. Shipping was fast and I had my radio in hands in about 4 days. The FT70 feels solid in hand looks and feels like it can take a bit of a tumble with no problems. Audio quality both on receive and on transmit is excellent from reports into the local repeater which is about 20km away. Inputing frequencies manually into the radio is pretty easy once you have done it a few times. Although this radio is CHIRP compatible, Im trying to do most of the work through front panel as from what I seen it’s a multi step process to get this thing to connect to a pc even with the included cable. My main reason for purchasing this HT was the fusion wires x compatibility as I am just starting to learn about digital radio and am using it to connect to ysf rooms with my jumbospot running pi-star. Highly recommend this as a solid entry level radio into digital or even just for analogue 2M/70CM.

Nice Radio But!
Overall great entry radio by Yaesu for anyone interested in C4FM & Wires-X. A few annoyances are the 1800maH battery is very weak. Low battery indicator starts flashing within 10 minutes after an average length QSO. You can still talk for quite a while after that but you will need a second battery if you need to talk further or this becomes your EDC HT. Second the programming software by Yaesu (ADMS) could be improved by making it easier to export to all their Fusion line of radios. I could not export my FT-70 channel list to a FT-300DR. There was an incompatibility issue plus the way you send and recieve data to the radio is quite complicated the sequence to get it into the programming mode. Overall once programmed & one purchases a second higher capacity battery it's an okay HT.

Excellent quality and fast shipping
I'm a new ham but been playing with come cheaper radios. This FT-70 is so nice. Sound is good and clear. TX at 5w is hitting a repeater 35km from my house with no issues. Haven't gotten into the digital C4FM or wires settings but I'm sure I'll be just as satisfied with those too. I had the radio on my local repeater all day at med volume. Had a 10 min conversation and it was time to charge after being on and used for over 10 hours. Some reviews about battery life being an issue so I guess yaesu has fixed this. Very happy with this purchase from radio world.

Yaesu finally made a cost effective c4fm radio thats easy to program by hand and easy to operate this should be in every hams shack !!

Great radio for FM and C4FM
This is a rugged and great radio for anyone who needs a dual bander and also wants Fusion mode. Its an ongoing enhancement to the FT-60 that has been a reliable performer for years. You do need a better battery and the fast charge as the supplied battery doesnt last a long time and takes 14 hours to charge. The speaker mic also has excellent audio unlike the chinese radios that all sound muffled. You get what you pay for and you always get real value from Yaesu

Great simple radio
Similar to their previous models like the FT60 and FT65, this is a straight forward radio to operate, plus it has C4FM. They also fixed an issue by putting the belt clip on the body of the radio, not the battery. Two thumbs up from this guy!
