4500 Watt Antenna Tuner  (some scratches on cabinet)

Palstar engineers decided to see what could be done to break away from the limitations of traditional antenna tuner design and provide the maximum possible flexibility to tune the widest range of antennas.

The result is the revolutionary AT5Kplus. A front panel knob controls the microprocessor-driven mode controller that switches additional capacitance and inductance in and out of the circuit using 10kV rated vacuum relays.

The variable input and output capacitors are 340pF @ 6kV, with additional 300pF @ 7.5kV fixed doorknob capacitors that can be switched to either or both the input and the output. This provides a maximum of 640pF each for the input and output, just the thing for the 160 meter operator.

The 18µH, 10A @ 5kV roller inductor can have an additional 12µH fixed inductor switched in for a total of 30µH when needed.

Selection of Coax 1, Coax 2, Balanced, and Bypass outputs is controlled by turning the front panel knob, and the status is displayed on the large, backlit, 2 line LCD readout.

All of the switching is accomplished by 10kV rated vacuum relays that are mounted on a single PC Board that mounts directly on the backs of the variable capacitors and the roller inductor. This keeps all RF paths short for maximum efficiency.
